script help

I can find an occurrence of the pattern string itself, but what's foxing me is extracting just the pattern values and then removing the "." characters to leave me with just the pattern numbers. ie from "Win vxx.yy.zz" to "xxyyzz"

grep  ( your path here) ( patter you lookin for)

lets say your file is in or home
so grep  ~/filename  win.vx

i didnt get the rest tho
