Window Titlebars Are Non-existant

This is related to this bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/467668
You are missing what is called 'window decoration'.
The fix that worked for me was to use a terminal (are you OK with that?)
and enter the following
mv ~/.compiz ~/.compiz-backup
mv ~/.config/gnome-session ~/.config/gnome-session-backup
then reboot.
If that does not work, you may find some other workarounds in the
discussion of that bug
