Many thanks for the prompt answer.
I just uninstalled it, but it seems there are still some more issues (see
below)
What would be the best bet to install 'eclipse' by resolving these problems?
thanks,
Glen

glen at ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install eclipse sun-java6-jdk

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
eclipse: Depends: eclipse-jdt but it is not going to be installed
Depends: eclipse-pde but it is not going to be installed
sun-java6-jdk: Depends: sun-java6-bin (>= 6.20dlj-1ubuntu3) but it is not
going to be installed
sun-java6-jre: Depends: sun-java6-bin (>= 6.20dlj-1ubuntu3) but it is not
going to be installed or
ia32-sun-java6-bin (>= 6.20dlj-1ubuntu3) but it is
not installable
Recommends: gsfonts-x11 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify
a solution).
