From what you wrote I'm unsure of exactly to what, "...it's..," refers.
If it refers to the personal mail I sent to him then, yes, it is
unsolicited, maybe spam.  I think, though, that it is warranted in such
a case, though, precisely because it will help both him and us.

Sick, wrong and lovable notwithstanding, it will likely work better than 
continual clogging of the list with responses to his mail.
