can't open floppy disc

If XP and Ubu are on the same machine why not import the files into the XP 
side and move them to Ubu from there.
Alternatively, copy the files to CD via XP and write to Ubu/OpenOffice via 
the CD.
Just a thought; I used to do the move from Vista to Ubu.
