Installing Ubu 10.04 over 9.04/9.10

On a Vista machine I installed Ubu 9.04. No problems.

I // tried // to install 9.10 via download but it trashed the 9.04 OS. (Toshiba hardware.)

I have a 10.04 CD.

Can I install 10.04 on top of the 9.04/9.10 currently on the machine without impacting the Windows partition?
