Weird CD Drive problem...

Hi all,

I am experiencing a weird problem with my CD drive lately:

Say I am copying a large file (several Gigabytes) from a data DVD disc to my
internal hard drive. Suddenly, in the middle, the CD tray opens and the
drive sounds like it is still trying to read data. I have to press the close
button a few times, but I get the "Cannot read" error (I/O Error) before I
can get the CD re-read and mounted by the Media Mounter.

I kicked the CD tray a few months back with my knee by mistake (the computer
is on the floor), but the problem is about two or three weeks old...

Is there a way i can verify if it's a hardware problem or maybe a System
settings issue?

Thanks!
