Which Eee PC do you have?

I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed on my Eee PC 900 (Swedish version of
Ubuntu and the Eee PC) and I updated a few hours ago. A restart was
required and so I did. Nothing bad happened. So whatever happened in
your case, if you have the Eee PC 900 at least, there shouldn't be a
problem, so I guess something must have happened in your case.

If the temp file is the problem, why not boot it from an USB stick
with Ubuntu Live or something and then add the folder from there as
root? I am no expert but I would try that.
