Ubuntu 10.4 Server Disk setup

The guys who wrote this thing could take some pointers from FreeBSD.  
Sheesh.  What's the point of having a software raid setup tool, if, 
after setting up the MD, youi can't actually do anything with it?  Is 
there a detailed manual of this process somewhere...perhaps a way to 
bring up a command line so I don't have to deal with the disk setup 
assumptions of the wizard's author?
