Found two threads with AptDaemon mentioned:

1. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1497384
2. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1491072

My BIOS is current (mobo is Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, Rev. 2).

I've watched cpu temps with services, no apparent problem.

I've had no swap or out-of-memory condition (8 Gb RAM). I'm checking
with memtest now...
