Cups not running

Hi all,
just tried to print running 10.04 updated via update manager,
(was printing fine before update) Printers not showing , only option
"print to file" . Cannot add a printer,  (system > administration > 
printing) option is greyed out.
Help tells me that cups sprint spooler is not running, to fix
go to System > Administration > Services  and look for
"cups service"  Minor problem, no "Services" in the System
Administration menu.
Any ideas on how I might get it working again would be
extremely greatfull Thanks in advance
