I had several problems with lucid's xorg and VAIO VPCF111FB, which uses
nvidia 310M.
Right after I installed lucid, xorg started ok using the nv driver.
However, after I installed nvidia binaries from the repositories, X
would not start anymore.
Nouveau would always be loaded, even if blacklisted, so I removed it.
Then I found out that the nvidia proprietary driver does not read
correctly the EDID info for this VAIO's LCD panel, so X would not start.
I had to restore Windows, save the EDID info in a raw file from there
and then reinstall lucid and reference the edid file in xorg.conf. This
was still in Lucid Alpha 2, something may have changed since then.
Now I have it working fine.
