What you mean by samba "client"?

If it is a linux machine with smbclient package installed, keep in
mind that the following may be in various way plain wrong.

On the windows communication way with workgroup theres no server and
no client. Or, what may seem strange said, the same is to say that
every machine is a client and may be the server. There is an
"election" process.

Bottom line, linux machines with smbclient are not part of the
workgroup, they can just access it. If you want them to be, you have
to install samba and configure it as what you called samba server.

Others will correct me.

The question is
What you mean by samba "client"?
Sorry if I am too far from the answer you were asking for.

Luis
