Modify action on shutdown

Hi

I have karmic UNR on a tablet PC (an O2 joggler).  When I select Shut
Down from the drop down in the top panel it successfully shuts down
and the screen goes completely blank.  Unfortunately of course the
power does not go off as it does not have that capability.  The net
result is what looks like a powered down tablet, but is actually just
halted and the screen blanked I think.  It would be better for me if
the power down just did a halt and left the halted message on screen
so that I would remember to switch it off.  Is there a file or
something somewhere that I can tweak to achieve this?  shutdown -H
does what I want.
