Tab, I don't know what causes your problem, but I think there is no
need to reinstall Ubuntu just to boot. Just use the grub rescue cd to
boot up ubuntu and then reinstall grub, but I am not sure if that will
boot up your windows this time round. But I would think if you
reinstall ubuntu, whether windows may boot or not will be similar (to
booting with rescue cd).
