wireless connection problems with ubuntu 9.1

I recently replaced my hard drive (now 160GB) and installed Ubuntu 9.1.
Everything works fine except the wireless connection. The DSL connection
works fine. How do I get the wireless to work? Do I need to download any
software? The wireless always worked before the hard drive crashed. How do
you see which wireless connections are available?
