Ha! What do you mean AD is Microsoft's directory system that started as 
LDAP. That does not even begin to describe AD. AD is an integration of 
LDAP, Kerberos and DNS technology with some extensions notably in the 
Kerberos protocol. SSL can also be integrated. Samba4 already has 
kerberos integration and will solve the LDAP part by including its own 
LDAP server.
