Problems installing 10.04-beta2

Curious... I had almost the same issue, except for me, the screen just
stays black, the mouse comes up, and I hear the startup sound, but after
that, I can't see anything. I filed a bug about it (can't find it at the
moment...)

I've actually been having a ton of issues with the 10.04 CD on all of my
computers... I think I've only gotten it to successfully start once out
of the 5 computers I've tried.
