That's the way I saw it.

4. Compiz is out - I hate wasting resources, and bling doesn't interest me.

3. KDE is out - I used it for years and got tired of it because of its 
useless bling and "widgtes" and "plasmas" and other similar 
propellor-head terms.

2. If KDE can provide this facility I don't see why Gnome desktop 
cannot, especially as most of the work has already been done for this 
facility - so this is also out.

Only leaves 1 with which I can live until Gnome includes it as a 
standard feature.
