Many thanks for this but the last comment I read in one of the comments 
(dated January this year) is that following the instructions exactly did 
not work :-( .

The instructions given are some 5 years old. There have been a few 
Ubuntu versions since then. Why hasn't this feature been implemented to 
date, do you know?
