I don't think so.
The only files that matter are
/etc/hostname
and
/etc/hosts
As I said in an earlier email, red must be behaving differently
because red.Workgroup is an alias of localhost and has an address of
127.0.0.1.
I have never understood the Debian/Ubuntu setup where hosts is
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 hostname
and I usually change mine to
127.0.0.1 hostname [hostname.domain] localhost
