game problem

the linux games seem to be turning off the game sound aat the begining the
sound will crackle a little and then its fine and later it will go silent. I
am runing ubuntu 9.10 on my Hp Pavilion Slimline s3020n pc the games are
scorched 3d and warzone2100 any one have an idea what this could be I haft
to restart the  pc because the games wont close
