In short ... time marches on.

Connical will support the non-LTS releases (desktop wise) for 2 years 
and 3 years for the LTS (Long Term Support) at which point the channels 
close and the repos no longer offer updates.  Thats the short and sweet 
of it.  Rules differ just slightly for the sever flavors.
