This implies Lexmark wasn't supported by Linux before, which is not 
true. I can tell you that the Lexmark laser printers have been 
auto-detected by Linux for at least 10 years. With CUPS, it's trivially 
easy to configure a printer in Linux, easier than in Windows for sure.
