Manual fix of Grub2 impossible

Ok, Karl, I see.
I look at grub2 this way. A very low knowledge of bash/shell (setting vars),
will allow you to configure grub2 "operational" parameters at
/etc/default/grub
You can add your custom grub entries at /etc/grub.d/40_custom.
Just type your own menu entries, pretty much as you would with previous grub
menu.lst. Correct me if I'm wrong.
run update-grub and check result at /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Done. Everything else you leave as automatic. It works fine on ubuntu 9.10.

That's why I say manual configuration is possible. And as you said, you can
edit directly /boot/grub/grub.cfg, but as last resource.
What do you think?
PS: And I do think bash is the very fundamental tool for linux users, for
the prompt and to do batch scripts, minimum.
New users should know that, in my opinion.
"bottom comments"? Don't know what you mean, sorry. I use gmail.
Regards
Luis
