Hi,
try opening a terminal and typing sudo pppconfig  give your password
fill in details, leave the provider entry as is,  com ports on linux are
ttyS0 for com port 1  ttyS1 for comport 2 etc.
You will need to enter the correct ttyS.. if it isn't found auto. When you
have it done, save file and exit this utility.
To connect  open a terminal and type pon  to disconnect in terminal type
poff.
