glad to help.
ive always used sudo update-manager -d
the d switch shows distribution upgrades
not 100% sure if this matters but check synaptic>settings>repos>updates>
towards the bottom make sure "normal releases" is highlighted instead of
LTS which I suspect is the case for you now, that may be why no releases
are showing up. post back.
