HP touchsmart tx2z sound

Sound stopped working after I got the touch working on my HP tx2z laptop
using this doc...

Can't find anything in dmesg related...where can I look for clues to why
the sound is not working. I made the changes to
the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa=base.conf as shown in the above doc on step 7.
