So, for the record, I've just bookmarked the 2 "alternative archives"
for ubuntu-users, where both threads I'm concerned with are complete
(meaning that my own posts DO appear there, while
lists.ubuntu.com/archives appears to consistently snub them:
http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ubuntu.user
http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Ubuntu/
I suspect that both of these alternative archives take a little longer
to get any particular update than the original thing. I'll try to
watch all 3 of these on future postings and see which approach works
best.
This post here is being done after a copy-paste from Gmane, which
seems to be easier than Derkeiler for selecting stuff.
