CUPS Printer Support Not Working...

the document you tried to print the other day was probably still sitting
in the print que... it's possible that the act of the scanner firing up
brought up CUPS which then processed your print que.

does CUPS appear to be operating now, or did it go away again? I'd try
to offer more advice, but I just haven't had any problems like this with
printing to be able to give advice.
