PCMIA wireless device

Computer: Dell Inspiron 8200
Wireless device Netgear WG511T (PCMIA)

This device worked perfectly under Ubuntu 6.06 (Desktop version)
I have now installed Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Server version)
The fixed network (wired) works fine.
However the wireless interface device is not found by the system.
lspci tells me that the 2 pc card slots are recognised.
Question: how can I make Ubuntu do a scan for the device?
iwconfig reports 'no wireless extensions'

How can I make it work?
