Your answer did not address my problem.

My question was not about "how to delete stuff", it was about "how to
delete stuff faster". Copying a file from one drive to another,
particularly across a relatively slow link such as USB, is always going
to be slower than just deleting the file.

Steve's advice was precisely what I was looking for.
