irssi system alert

I believe you can accomplish that with gnu screen, not sure about irssi. I assume you mean the pc beep speakers. I believe echo -e "\a" sets it off. You can use that if you do any bash scripting.

Is there any way to get the system alert to sound if a particular 
channel gets a public post? What are the  other options to generate the 
bell?  What about if a message is sent to
any of the windows?
