Ubuntu 9.04 and sound capture(microphone-internal/external) problem.PulseAudio.

Ubuntu 9.04 seems to have a problem when running mainly on netbooks,which
is: the lack of capability to record sound from internal and external
microphones.It is a documented bug and the workaround seems to be uninstall
pulse audio.My question is: is there a full fix available we can use with
Ubuntu 9.04 right now and not wait for Ubuntu 9.10? I need to use VoIP
soft phones now.
