Depends on whether your planning to have a full, mobile install w/
persistence and such, or if you just want a USB-liveCD.  

I'd say a 1GB would be plenty for a regular USB-LiveCD, but if you're
intending it to be a mobile distro...4GB or more, I guess. I've never
done the latter so take it for what it is.
