When did this happen/start happening? what were you trying to do when
this happened?

My advice: try running "sudo apt-get update" to see if that fixes the
offending file. If it does not, try moving the offending file, then
running "sudo apt-get update" again. to move the file, run the following
(note, everything thats indented should all be 1 line, buy may get
wrapped oddly)

        sudo
        mv /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_jaunty-updates_restricted_binary-amd64_Packages ~/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_jaunty-updates_restricted_binary-amd64_Packages.backup

try this, and let us know how it goes :)
