If I understand correctly, you have three operating systems:
1) Ubuntu 9.04
2) Ubuntu 9.04
3) Windows XP

Until recently, all three could send email. At a particular point in
recent history, all three stopped being able to send email. Is this
correct?

If so, what do the three have in common? Are they all connected via a
common router? Might that be performing traffic "shaping" of the type
"dropping SMTP packets"? It sounds like they are all connecting to the
same SMTP server. Can you verify with a new thunderbird profile that
you can connect and send mail with your account information? Can you
try sending mail from another IP address, such as using Portable
Thunderbird on a library Windows machine?
