Did you try his suggestion of unplugging/plugging in the mouse?

You obviously did not listen to his request to add the log output to
your next email.

Please, if you did do the plug/unplug routine, redo it, and report back
with the part of /var/log/syslog that's relevent to the plug/unplug
event.
