[PARTLY SOLVED]: Problem In Installing Jaunty and Karmic

With excellent help from one member of the list, I now have this solved
for Jaunty by adding:

noapic

to the kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst.

However, I understand that this doesn't hold true for Karmic.  If I
have not been misinformed, could anyone explain how I pass this option
to the kernel at boot time in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic)?
