USB to ethernet interfaces with Ubuntu - recommendations wanted

I need a second ethernet interface on an Acer Inspire Revo.  It seems
to me that the easiest way to provide this will be to use a USB to
Ethernet interface.  Do these generally 'just work' with Ubuntu (9.04
probably, or 9.10 if necessary) or do I need to find specific ones
that will work.

Any experience and/or recommendations would be very welcome.
