It's optional, and AFAIK it's no bigger than the
not-optional-to-my-knowledge line at the bottom of a Vim screen reserved
for things like line numbers. But I'm not certain; I don't use it.

I've never been on the off-topic list, but I'd always assumed it was
for conversations of interest. I'd have thought threads like this
detract from this list[0], and I can't see them being much better on
Sounder.
Especially since, really, no-one gives a crap which editor
anyone else chooses to use, so long as they can use the one they want
to.

[0] I'm well aware that I'm perpetuating it. I'm going to stop soon.
