This has happend twice on two different machines; run updates via the
upgrade-manager and find that I can't boot into gdm. For some reason my
home gets turned into a ecryptfs encrypted directory. Un-frigging
believable!
The first time this happened was before beta & I simply reinstalled.
However today's machine was a beta install that was only about 5 days
out of sync with the updates. So I update it; find a 'Private' folder in
my home directory & find that the POS has been encrypted. So I manage to
figure out how to ecryptfs-mount-private & give it my login password to
uncrypt the damn thing. Note that I'd not installed ecryptfs when the
system was installed.
Of course, prior to realizing that ecryptfs had been installed & my home
directory had been encrypted, I thought something was wrong with the
drive (could only boot to root). So, like a fool I went ahead and did an
fsck... which of course decided that some of the inodes were screwed up
& offered to "fix" them. Of course I just kept pushing 'Y'...
Arggh!
Occurred when with updates going from kernel -13 to -14. I seem to
recall that this is when it happened on the other machine as well.
Anyone else had this happen to them, or is it just my lucky day?
