Version 8.4.3 and 9.04 hang on installation

Also, what is your complete partition lay out?  Try from same Live boot:

    fdisk -l /dev/sd*

assuming your harddrives are not IDE otherwise:

    fdisk -l /dev/hd*

this should list your partition tables.
