You don't own the thread, so you really don't get to say when it ends.  On a 
list like this, threads end when interest in them ends.  If you are no 
longer interested, just ignore it.

But, more importantly, if you don't _reply_ to posts, you create new 
threads.  Which means that for those of us using sane mail or news programs, 
you just started a whole NEW thread - and it isn't going to have the 
slightest effect on the activity in the original thread.
