aptitude/apt-get makes the computer speaker beep

Go to System > Preferences > Sound and then click the System Sounds tab
and see where the sound is enabled. I only enable sound on login and logout.

If you prefer no System Beeps at all, at the System Beeps tab, uncheck
the box.

Not sure of the cli way to do it.
