ping through proxy?

Hi

I'm using an SSH tunnel to gain access to the "LAN through the internet"...

I just wanted to ask that...it's ok, that I set e.g.: Firefox to use the localhost SSH] proxy..but I want to ping private IP's in the LAN [e.g. 192.168.1.23]...

How can I tell only to "ping" to use the proxy on e.g.: localhost:2000 ?
