Didn't you say you hate upgrading kernels? What does the kernel rev he
is running now have to do with his question??? On Ubuntu, upgrading
the kernel - especially now in Karmic is frequent enough but every
time a minor change on the kernel happens I've experienced no problems
whatsoever in having the postinit scripts and triggers automatically
recompile the kernel space component of Virtualbox. More than likely I
will get a new Virtualbox on my desktop (quad core intel) even though
I have it on my laptop as well (newer version because of Karmic).

The VirtualBox and 64 bit issues were mentioned in passing. The main
problem was the upgrade issues he was having in going from 8.04 to
8.10 to 9.04 in one go.

But then, I've never done tech support nor Unix system administration
as a profession :(.
