I installed the necessary programs since when I open up a terminal and run

sudo /etc/init.d/cryptinit start

everything works fine.

Only the link I have created

[502] [amuls at geodprof: /etc/rcS.d]$ ls -l ???cryptinit
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2009-10-08 09:04 S28cryptinit ->
../init.d/cryptinit

is not executed at startup, so I do not get the prompt for the passwd.
To be able to enter this password, I also want to get rid of the splash.
In jaunty I replaced for that purpose:
quiet splash - option from menu.lst
with
vga=793

Something similar I cannot do with Karmic.
