Hi,

I tried to get Internet exploder and safari running under wine so I can
test out some web development in those browsers and they just don't work
at all.  exploder just sits with a blank window, and safari does not
launch at all.  Since then I tried to un-insall them and that won't
work.  I even tried synaptic package manager to totally remove wine, and
it is still sitting there in my "Applications" dropdown and it seems
that safari is still listed in the "programs" dropdown under wine.

This windoze stuff is creeping me out I just want that wine safari and
exploder gone off my system for good, but it just keeps sticking around.

How do I get rid of this stuff once and for all?

Thanks
Rick

Hi, Rick. I know exactly what you mean and want. I recently did the same thing. The following link will tell you exactly how to remove it. http://wiki..winehq.org/FAQ

It's towards the bottom just use firefox's find function (ctrl f) to search for uninstall. It says this...
2.8. How do I uninstall Wine?
If you
want to remove Wine entirely after you installed it with your
distribution's package manager, you can generally uninstall in the same
way. Note, however, that uninstalling Wine will not eliminate the virtual Windows installation - to do that you must follow the instructions below. If you installed Wine from source, then use make uninstall in the source directory to remove it.

Make sure you click the "below" link and it will give you the exact code to remove everything that has to do with wine.

Cheers
-Mike
