Well, Adobe doesn't have a 64 bit acroread that I could find googling or searching the site.  However, I'll keep dokument reader in mind if the dpkg --force-architecture doesn't work.  At least I found the download thanks to Douglas Knapp.  I'll keep watching the list in case some other info comes up.  thanks to all.
